Chaplain

Helping Hands Hospice recognizes the need for spiritual care. The Hospice Chaplain helps determine the needs of the patient and family during an initial interview, and works toward resolving spiritual issues. Periodic visits are made as chosen by the family unit. The Hospice Chaplain realizes the fear and the “why me” questions often felt by a patient, and understands the needs of our patients to reflect on the meaning of life, express one’s life story, and maintain hope.

Often times the patient and family members have their own chaplain or minister who visits regularly. The Hospice Chaplain does not replace the patient’s own minister, but is available to complement the existing spiritual support.
