Physician

Helping Hands Hospice provides care under the direction of a Hospice Medical Director. The medical director acts as a consultant to the hospice team, as well as to the attending physician. Close communication with the patient’s own physician is maintained, as the patient’s needs may constantly change with new symptoms arising sometimes daily. The medical director is often times available as a back up to the attending physician. For example, after hour emergencies requiring immediate medical intervention, which can only be provided by direct access to a physician, either the attending physician or the hospice medical director.

The medical director is not meant to take the place of the patient’s attending physician, but is available to assist as needed, in the absence of the attending physician.
